Field Trip
Recently, I accompanied the 2nd to 4th graders on a field trip to an aquarium. There are no school busses in Thailand. So we had to rent a bus that seats 50 people. The bus was a nice coach bus with a "party lounge” on the first floor (where I sat). The cost for this luxurious ride with students, including gas, a driver and another staff person, was just over $300. Pretty good deal!

Dinners out
I am not a foodie. I don't think about good food to eat. But when good food comes to me, I eat with great thankfulness and delight. The first photo below is one of my better “food photographs”. The second photo is at a dinner honoring visitors from Hong Kong. This meal had nine, yes 9, different meat options! The third photo is at a Japanese restaurant with Henry Doorn, school board member (from the Chicago area!) and the school superintendent with his wife.
Not Trees, but Flowers
The photo below is of me and our school office manager. She created this beautiful floral arrangement for a school event.

A “Knuckle Cut”
As you know, I like to walk and my walking produces wonderful times of observation, prayer and reflection on life. I recently received a small cut on a knuckle on my right hand. It wasn't deep, but it bled easily and required a Band-Aid. As an aside, all of the Band-Aids that Jeanne has at our condo in Thailand have cutsie patterns, so I had to go to the store to buy regular looking Band-Aids in order to look more normal!
On a walk I reflected on what lesson could I learn from this cut. One reason for my reflection was that I kept injuring the same area on my hand. It's not like you have to think about every single little thing in life, but sometimes I do. The lesson? Slow down. The reason why I cut my finger in the first place was that I was impatient and going quickly. The reason why I re-cut the same wound was because I was going too quickly. And the third time I re-cut it was for the same reason. Thankfully it is fully healed, and I continue to learn lessons of patience.
